Like most of you, I spent a lot of time playing, watching, and coaching tackle football. Well, guess what? Tackle football is not flag football. The strategies that work in tackle football don't work for flag football. Luckily, I have access to some of the best coaches in the world over at Footballtimes.org. I decided to reach out to my coaches and ask them to help put together a resource on flag football.

If you have been to Football Times, you know we are mainly a tackle football resource center, with plays, strategies, and techniques to help teach tackle football. But tackle football is not as popular as it used to be and there has been a surge of flag football leagues, commissions, and championship series. It became clear to us that we needed a flag football division.

I reached out to my staff of 23 coaches and writers who have been coaching football for over four decades and asked them to start writing and developing resources on flag football. We started adding that content to our website, and it was resonating with our audience... more than we had anticipates.

We were getting tons of emails asking us for a print or digital book compiling all of the flag football resources into one easy to read, well curated book. We commissioned a team to put together nearly 40 years of experience into one very well done, easy to follow flag football book and playbook. 

In 2015, the book was done and was published on Amazon. It began selling like crazy. Amazon then suspended our account stating that the material in the book was plagiarized. They claimed it was taken from Football Times. Which is true, but that's also our website. We sent them tons of evidence and data proving to them that we owned the website. After 3 years of going back and forth, they just wouldn't see it our way. But the book was so good...

Flag Football Plays

Dominate Flag Football starts out discussing defensive philosophy and why we coach our players to never turn their backs on the football. They must always be watching the ball. We also talk about why we always play a zone defense and why that makes the most sense for flag football. We also discuss how to quickly switch to man defense in case the team we are playing decides to come out passing and is actually good at passing.

We focus on defense first and foremost, because that's what will set up our offense and special teams. Defense is the most important phase of the game. We almost never have allowed positive yardage. Most of the teams we have coached have always forced the other team to go backwards. very few teams have actually racked up positive yards against us.

The second half of the book gets into offensive philosophy. We discuss why you never actually need a running back on offense. How to use your quarterback properly. How to get the defense going in the wrong direction, mind tricks you can play on defenses, and how you can get the defense to do exactly what you want. We also discuss adjustments you can make if they are playing you man versus zone defense and how to adjust based on their strengths. If they are biting on fakes and misdirections, then you can use them more often. However, if they are slow or staying disciplined, then you need to adjust to that as well.

The third part of the book is a glossary of all of the plays with an explanation on how to use them properly.
