Pop Pass: Deadliest Pass In All Of Football
Jul 03, 2019Pop Pass: Deadliest Pass In All Of Football
Everyone needs to have this play in their playbook, but also needs to have it as an audible. Call it “Fire” or something exciting. In youth football, no one covers the tight ends because they assume they are just blockers and not going anywhere. And usually they are blockers, and don’t go anywhere.
The defense decides to go goal line and you see everyone up and no linebackers and no safeties, you have the quarterback quickly yell, “Fire”, and the tight end quickly goes out for a quick pass that’s thrown as soon as the quarterback has the ball.
You can use this in other scenarios as well, not just goal line. Whenever you see a favorable defense, you can scream, “Fire” and run it.
With youth players, they may not be smart enough to audible by themselves. So, the coaches may have to yell this from the sideline. Sometimes they allow one coach on the field with the players, you can also yell it from there.
You can also run this as a two-play series instead. Have the first play be the stretch or Off Tackle to the right with the running back. The next play looks like you are running the same play again, the safeties and entire defense will run to the Off Tackle area, the running back doesn’t have the ball and the tight end is running to the end zone completely uncovered! Quickly throw it over the top to him.
